Why ToughSonic is the workhorse for liquid level and distance measurement in Great Lakes plants
Non-contact — nothing to foul, corrode, or wear
The sensor mounts above the surface and measures through the air, so it never touches the liquid. No fouling, scaling, or corrosion from the product; no moving parts in the tank. ToughSonic sensors are low maintenance with a long service life.
Continuous, distance-proportional output straight to your control system
ToughSonic emits an ultrasonic pulse, times the echo off the surface, and reports the exact distance—not just presence. The output signal changes proportionally with the measured distance for seamless integration with a PLC, HMI, or BinCloud for real-time inventory, batch control, and high/low alerts.
Unaffected by color, light, or transparency—and simple to set up
Because it measures with sound instead of light, ambient lighting, product color, shine, and transparency don’t affect the reading. Free SensorView™ PC software configures, tests, and clones sensors in seconds—save one setup and copy it across a whole network with Group Control.
Rugged, sealed construction for wet, dirty, or corrosive environments
Solid-state electronics and a rugged piezoelectric transducer are fully epoxy-potted inside a Type 316 stainless-steel (TS-100) or chemical-resistant Kynar® PVDF (TS-200) housing. Every sensor is sealed to NEMA-4X, NEMA-6P, and IP68 for indoor, outdoor, and washdown environments.
Models
ToughSonic Ultrasonic Sensors
Two series, based on environment. The TS-100 series is the general-purpose, 316 stainless workhorse; the TS-200 series adds a PVDF (Kynar®) housing for corrosive and chemical service. Both set up with free SensorView™ software. Send us the application and we’ll spec the range and housing.
The TS100 series is best at handling water and harmless liquids in tanks and mixers, environmental and outdoor monitoring, distance ranging, and object detection in harsh plant conditions. They feature 316 stainless-steel housing, epoxy-potted electronics, ruggedized transducer, permanently attached cable. Ranges from 3 ft to 50 ft.
| Model | Max / Optimum Range | Deadband | Best at |
|---|---|---|---|
| TS-100.03 | 3ft | 0-1.75in | Small tanks, totes, and close-range level |
| TS-100.14 | 14ft | 0-4in | Day tanks and small process vessels |
| TS-100.30 | 30ft | 0-10in | Mid-size tanks and storage vessels |
| TS-100.50 | 50ft | 0-12in | Tall tanks, sumps, and open-channel monitoring |
The TS-200 Series is best at handling corrosive and aggressive liquids — chemical storage, plastics, wood products, paper, agricultural chemicals, and food and beverage processing. They feature Kynar® (PVDF) housing resistant to most acids, bases, solvents, and oxidizers. Ranges of 14 ft, 20 ft, and 35 ft.
| Model | Max / Optimum Range | Deadband | Best at |
|---|---|---|---|
| TS-200.14 | 14ft | 0-3.5in | Corrosive liquids in smaller tanks and totes |
| TS-200.20 | 20ft | 0-8in | Mid-size chemical and process tanks |
| TS-200.35 | 35ft | 0-12in | Taller chemical storage and outdoor tanks |
Configure your ToughSonic to your application
ToughSonic sensors install above the surface with a clear line of sight to the liquid or target. The right mount and thread adapter depend on your fitting, headroom, and whether the sensor points into a tank, over a channel, or across a conveyor. Not sure which fits? Tell us about your application, and we'll spec the right accessories for you.
Industries where the ToughSonic is the liquid level sensor standard
Serving industrial facilities across Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Western New York since 1959. Find your application below — or tell us about your vessel and we'll spec the right model.
Water and Wastewater
Wet wells, lift stations, lagoons, clarifiers, and treatment-chemical tanks at municipal and industrial sites. 316 SS stands up to hydrogen-sulfide sewer gas and outdoor service.
Common fit:
TS-100.30 / TS-100.50 for wells and channels; TS-200 for lye, acid, and treatment chemicals
Chemical Processing
Acids, bases, solvents, and aggressive process liquids in storage and day tanks. The Kynar® PVDF housing resists a wide range of chemistries.
Common fit:
TS-200.14 / .20 / .35 by tank height; check the Kynar® resistance chart
Food and Beverage
Ingredient tanks, process tanks, and mixers for liquids and slurries. Non-contact keeps the sensor out of the product for cleaner, lower-maintenance measurement.
Common fit:
TS-200 for wash-down and product-contact areas; TS-100 for utility liquids
Plastics and Resins
Liquid additives, colorants, and process liquids in day tanks and totes across Ohio and Pennsylvania plants.
Common fit:
TS-100 for general liquids; TS-200 where chemistry is aggressive
